Traine Farm Holiday Cottages

Traine Farm Holiday Cottages is now under new management. Sisters Claire and Jen are looking forward to welcoming you to the farm. Sadly Sheila passed away in 2019 after successfully running the business for 20 years with husband Robert. Robert still lives on site and will be happy to help but daughters Claire and Jen will be looking after the bookings, changeovers and day to day management of the business. Both Claire and Jen live locally on farms with their young families. They both worked at the farm for many years when they lived at Traine and have the same exacting standards that Sheila expected.

Traine Farm is set in this idyllic rural part of Devon.  It has been a settled holding since before 1086 and was mentioned in the Domesday Book. It makes an ideal, year round base from which to explore the surrounding areas. Farm holidays are an ideal place to relax and unwind, why not bring your wellies and enjoy some time exploring the surrounding countryside.   We have some great walks in the area and the footpath from the farm joins the South West Coastal Path at the beach. It’s a leisurely 20 minute walk and we provide a map and text to point out the features of interest. Alternatively, walk to Warren Point; it takes around 20 minutes and from here you can catch the ferry across  to Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo.

Trace your family history

Our family has farmed here since 1939. We have researched the history of the farm and its occupants over the centuries. Robert is a keen local historian and has many years experience of the local area and researching at the Record Office.  He would be pleased to help you with your genealogy.

Life On The Farm

The day to day running of the farm is carried out by our close neighbours: you’ll see Farmer Steve’s cattle, as well as Robert’s collection of hens, ducks and of course the alpacas, Zebedee and Zumba!

It’s a real farm which we hope you will enjoy.  Many of our guests return year after year and are always interested in the way that our food is produced from source. The nearby farm shops provides a range of local produce for your enjoyment.
We feel that we have the best of all worlds, we’re surrounded by beautiful rural countryside and yet only minutes from the beach.  If you’d like a cultural day out or have to drop your children off at University, Plymouth is only seven miles away.

Traine Farm cottages offer our visitors a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Why wait, plan your break now!
